Takeaway: Pret a Manger, Farringdon
I was feeling a little under the weather, and fancied a nice warming soup and a sandwich for lunch, as I made my way home to lie down and mope.
I’ve never bought a soup from Pret before, but the sound of the chicken, broccoli and brown rice soup from their ‘Soup-er Healthy’ range appealed – there’s nothing like chicken soup when you’re feeling sorry for yourself.
My first impression was that there seemed to be more carrot than there did broccoli, but the chicken stock broth was nice, with a good flavor. It was full of good ingredients, including onion, broccoli, carrot, celery, leeks and brown rice, and flavoured with garlic, parsley and rosemary – though could have done with a bit more chicken.
It was a very enjoyable basic soup and at only 3.7g of carbohydrate per 100g was low-carb too. It wouldn’t have been enough for lunch without the sandwich (egg and cress), but went very nice with it.
